The June List is a bit later than usual, caused by the deluge of ads and the many sales which have resulted over the past few weeks. Keeping the List up to date has been quite a challenge!
A complete 90 has sold, as have 90 and 31 envelopes. G-FOGG’s envelope has gone to the BBM&L whilst the other components have been sold. Another balloon has been withdrawn from sale. Meanwhile joining the List for June are Sir David Hempleman-Adams’ North Pole 105 LBL envelope, an LTL Series 1-31 envelope other tethered in its 6 year history and Cameron N-90 envelope G-BWUU. Watch out on Stop Press this month for an exciting complete LBL77A …..!
Meanwhile we have had ads for big collections of accessories on ‘Stop Press’ (accessed from our Home page) from Nick Godfrey and Tony Brown. See Tony’s list to see his success in reducing that list in just a matter of days. Tony also did a bit of research with ICOM with reference to their IC-A24. Examples up to 2012 are 25 Khz only, whilst those thereafter can be converted from 25 to .833 at reasonable cost (presently £47 + VAT).
Just in as we close for press is a situation vacant in Jordan for rides pilots on Group C sized balloons.
A lot of the recent trading took place either on the run up or at the Midlands Air Festival held at Ragley Hall 31st May to 2nd June. Organised by James McDonald and his team with the event attracting over 140 balloons although the flying was somewhat limited on all but the Sunday morning by a gusty northerly wind which sadly caused a few incidents. The Sunday morning was best for balloonists with wall to wall nylon the length of the very big launch area. The highlight of this heavier than air fan was the Saturday surprise turn in the airshow by Red Bull’s immaculate Austrian based DC-6B which conducted several spirited fly-bys, steep bank angles all to the lovely sound of 4 Pratt & Whitneys!! Midlands is certainly the big event of the calendar these days!
