Just as this intro was being written, news of 4 UK registered envelopes for sale in Sweden came in from Per Lesser. These are very welcome, especially as they include one man & 56 plus two special shapes, all built by Cameron or LBL.
Other than the above, no new additions this month, although plenty of sales have taken place including the pretty TR-70 Racer envelope and complete Ultramagic S90 G-CGPD, plus many smaller items.
Arthur Street has updated his massive list of items for sale including many price reductions and free items. We are surprised that no one has ventured to Exeter with a van to collect so many oft needed bit & pieces at knockdown prices …!
The Zebedee team has just returned from the 50th Irish Balloon Championships at Birr which suffered from mixed weather with most entrants getting two flights, some four. Carol Davis organised a fun meet as always in Ireland where social activity matters just as much as the flying. It was particularly good to meet David Synott at the survivors dinner, who had flown in from the Channel Islands. He was there at the beginning of modern day ballooning (1970) in Ireland along with “Tar Baby” (Piccard EI-ATM) and Omega “Yellow Peril” (EI-ANP).
The next event for the team is the One Man Meet at Cirencester Park this weekend organised by John Tyrrell & Wendy Rousell.
On the social side, the BBM&L’s AGM/luncheon is scheduled for Sunday 30th October at Donnington Grove Hotel, Newbury with guest speaker Andrew Holly. Hopefully we will hear more about the sudden appearance of the UK’s latest balloon manufacturer, Diamond Balloons. Tickets are still available from Jenni d’Alton via the website at www.bbml.org.uk price £27.50.
Finally, a reminder re scams. These are still being attempted. Be particularly careful if someone sends an over payment of any sort, (which is likely to ‘bounce’) and then request a partial refund which is where they make their money …..
