December was relatively quiet on all fronts, although John Rose reports having sold his 160 and Ian Jones has his restored basket reserved.
At Zebedee the Shadow Single found a new home very quickly.
Until 3rd January we had no new ads for the List but now pleased to say Sean Simington is offering a complete LBL35A Cloudhopper, also an aged Cameron C-60 envelope which he has been using by flying solo to keep current during Covid.
Zebedee has added a used Bonanno quick release, 2 sets of (unused) flying suits and a 52m trail rope. We suspect this will only find a home these days as a film prop – or arch in your garden to grow roses!
As if trade for us at Zebedee with the EU had not become difficult since Brexit with more paperwork, expensive transport and lengthy delays, we are told that from 1st January there is now more paperwork, customs codes and bureaucracy. We still have one package ‘lost’ on its way to Spain, sent in November – and another which is ‘at customs’, also in Spain and over a month since dispatch. The UK is certainly being punished for its bad decision…
We are still coming to terms with the death of Phil Dunnington (reported in Stop Press on our website last month). A full ‘obit’ will appear in Aerostat but one correction from us – his total “countries” flown in was even higher than I reported – at 127! Beat that ….!
We are sorry to say that several of the meets which get us all off to a good start in the new year have now been cancelled. These include Chateau d’Oex, the Epiphany Meet in Mondovi and our own Icicle Refrozen. Notwithstanding that, we wish all our readers a happy and more importantly healthy 2022 and look forward to meeting up soon in a field somewhere.
