The falling value of the UK pound since the Brexit referendum might make it more expensive for us to travel but it has certainly had an effect on sales to customers outside the UK. We have packed boxes / pallets for 7 overseas countries in the past two weeks. Packing for safe transit, at the same time keeping the package as small as possible to keep your transport costs as low as possible all takes time – as do chasing delivery / invoice addresses, phone numbers (to go on the package) and valid VAT numbers for Europe. In future once we have agreed a deal, then you will receive an email from us asking for all the relevant info and giving instructions for payment. The previous month we had a significant shipment go missing (it is declared lost now), so we will not be using Hermes International any more… My Hermes in the UK seems to work OK, with the ‘drop off’ service suiting us when posting.
Two complete balloons and one envelope have been reported sold during October, whilst a small unflown, sturdy Annexe II basket and ‘Sits Vac’ (in France) join us this month. In addition we have a new crop of items for sale from Koen in Belgium ranging from a complete Racer balloon, several bottom ends and an 8hp fan. Also in the main list this month are the 13hp fan and complete LBL240A which appeared during the month in ‘Stop Press’. The 240 has relatively low hours for a 1997 balloon and has had a lot of new fabric during its life (there were these trees ….!) and has been stored for several years. You can buy it with or without trailer, either ‘as is’ – and you deal with certification or with an EASA ARC/Export C of A arranged by us. Either way please remember that if you eventually require certification overseas it must be inspected before it leaves these shores…
Since the August UK ANO revision, the medical requirements for UK based PPLs (and restricted CPLs) has been relaxed. The information regarding the latest changes can be seen on the CAA site as well as the new self declaration form.
Looking forward to the New Year we are pleased to announce that the Icicle Meet website is now live.
Finally, the long serving fax machine on the Zebedee landline ‘died’ during a recent thunderstorm! Having become little used in recent years, this service has now been withdrawn.
