October has seen plenty of action on the sales front with 2 complete balloons and 5 envelopes reported sold. These include the complete ‘Winnie the Pooh’ 77 sold from Sweden, damaged Kubicek advertised in Serbia, Dutch 210 in Germany and UK based examples heading for Denmark, Bulgaria and South Korea …. Such is the international power of Zebedee … Virtually all sub sections of the List saw sales last month.
New for November are no less than 3 complete 210s, 2 x 105 envelopes, a complete 77 and 65 envelope plus usual smaller items. Also included are quite a few price reductions, some of them dramatic ….
Sadly we have to report the passing of another well respected balloonist from the international scene, Jack Klein. After many years of living in Alaska with a period of several years in Switzerland in between, Jack and wife Carol had moved to Hawaii to set up a new home. It was when returning with building materials that Jack was killed in a road accident on 22nd October. Jack was a prolific balloon home builder in the USA and will be best remembered for the sub 10kg 2½hp fans, bearing his (appropriate) name for using by one-man balloonists. These were built during his time in Switzerland, Zebedee selling over a dozen in recent years. Our thoughts and sympathy go to Carol at her and ballooning’s great loss.
Just as last month’s List was going to print news came in of two stolen balloons. One in Italy G-IOMI made it on to the web home page. This entire rig was stolen from the Ferrara Balloon Festival on the night of 7th September. Since then the trailer only has been recovered (on the following day). The missing equipment consists of Cameron Z-105 envelope G-IOMI s/n 11426, Cameron basket (with quick release & dropline) s/n BB711, Ultramagic Power Plus single burner s/n 172, 3 x Ultramagic 60 litre cylinders s/n UM3-0429, UM3-0430 & UM3-0431 and 7hp inflation fan. Any information to Marco Giomi on scisc@hotmail.it
The second concerned LBL Hopper bottom end, frame & seat BA808, burner BU936 and CB426 cylinder s/n 0273/4606 stolen from Bramshot Common, Liphook, Hants after landing in early October. Owner/pilot Gary Madelin had gone to the Guard Room of this gated MOD land to get the key for access but when he returned all but the envelope had disappeared indicating perhaps a theft for ‘scrap’ metal. The seat frame had indent plate G-CDAD welded to it …. Any news to Gary on 07831 404378 or gary.madelin@balfourbeatty.com. The above details will be added to our stolen database. If anyone has updates for any of the equipment listed from past thefts please email Zebedee.
