The commercial news this month centres on the liquidation of Cameron Flights Southern (no connection with Cameron Balloons Ltd) / Go Ballooning. The online sale handled by Eddisons Ltd raised far more than some of us expected. Certainly there were bargains amongst the large complete balloons and some bottom ends, but smaller items, particularly tanks, fans and spares all fetched close to if not more than our estimates, especially once VAT (at 20%) and Buyers Premium (15%+VAT) were added. Zebedee has been looking at one of the Cameron 8 pax triple burner bottom ends to go with the Sky 220 G-CGGH, but was unsuccessful. So if the winners of Lot 15 (particularly) wants a complete balloon then please get in touch …..
At least 6 complete balloons/envelopes sold from the List last issue ranging from a complete 77 to a complete 240. A similar balance joins the June List with a complete light weight 60, complete 77 and envelopes 80 (2), 90, 133 and 145. A number of these and some of the wide range of bottom ends – suitable for a 77 to 250 come from well known supporter of the Zebedee List, Koen Audenaert in Belgium.
Another 250TT basket, lodged with Zebedee for sale a few months ago turns out to be beyond economic repair to C of A standards, with woodworm and other damage to the woven floor and wall to floor junction. Anyone running a fire course and wants some cheap, realistic practice should get in touch ….
We have the sad duty to report the death of two long time Zebedee customers during May.
Firstly Roger Cederquist in Denmark/Sweden who as recently as January this year was advertising for pilots for his rides business and who has sold several balloons through these pages.
Secondly Geoff Davis in Ireland, who collapsed and died whilst on retrieve during the opening evening of Joe Leahy’s One Man Meet at Ballymahon on Friday 24th May. Our condolences to Carol Davis and family and to Helen Gyselynck who was with Geoff on that retrieve and despite all efforts could not save him – a traumatic situation that must have been awful. Geoff and Carol flew, amongst other balloons a nice little Sky 25 one man balloon bought from Zebedee
in 2007.
