The sad news this month is the demise of UK rides operator Cameron Flights Southern / Go Ballooning, based in Pewsey, Wilts. The company expanded over a 25 year period to operate a fleet of 15 or so balloons over a wide area. The company appointed liquidators on 24th April, leaving many creditors in the industry with debts and pilots and crew without jobs, just at the beginning of the UK flying season. Zebedee therefore has offered free ads to those people affected who wish to advertise themselves as available at home or abroad.
As we go to press, we understand that there will be an auction of the balloons and equipment later in May, with viewing beforehand. A special ‘Zebedee News’ will advertise this sale as soon as details are available.
Six complete balloons and envelopes have found homes during April, mainly at the larger end size wise, finding homes mainly overseas including Spain, Turkey, Poland and a first; Iraq!
New this time are a complete 31, 80 and 160 plus an almost new 35 envelope advertising Lucozade.
For those private pilots flying in Central Southern England comes the chance to join the ‘Folly Dog Leg’ club which operates a launch field at Hungerford, Berkshire, membership of which gives you 365 days a year availablility, no prior notice, and a key to the gate. Members need to belong to the 3/4/40 Region (for SA updates). The fee is £30 per annum with a special offer of £20 for the first year.
