Although no complete balloons or envelopes are known to have sold from the List during January, plenty of activity has been reported on baskets, burners, fans and tanks. The last mentioned including some from David Hartland that only lasted a couple of days on ‘Stop Press’.
As promised last month, Zebedee has sorted more items for sale, concentrating on baskets & fans this issue, together with a retired much loved Cameron V-56 envelope G-BDUZ which was the very first envelope that started ‘Balloon Stable’ back in 1976 and lead to a whole host of sponsored envelopes including special shapes for Champion, Perrier & Planters.
Kim Hull has added the largest member of his former Adventure Balloons fleet this issue, G-CGGY an Ultramagic 425.
Sad news this month was to hear from Turkey (Türkiye now) the death of Neil Robertson, part of the Robertson Foods family and sponsor/pilot of the famous Golly series of envelopes including the first UK Special Shape G-OLLI. Neil was the driving force and sponsor of the 1977 World Championships at Castle Howard, was a former BBAC Chairman and for several years in the 1980s organised a fun long distance competition from the family home at Combe Hay near Bath.
Looking ahead, Zebedee will be at the BBAC AGM to be held (on a Saturday this year) at Brackley, Northants on 11th March. We will have our usual range of spares available, can bring larger items pre-ordered and is a good place to take items we cannot post – silicone spray, Plastazote floor sheets etc.
