After September’s bumper issue, most of the sales for the month unsurprisingly were made by Allan Nimmo. Just one other complete balloon has sold, although bottom end equipment has faired better. Similarly it is baskets and burners that feature most in items added this time, although Zebedee has a complete 105 (G-BVRU) in stock, being sold only as the owner is moving abroad to work for some years.
Kim Hull is the first advertiser looking for commercial pilots for the UK 2016 season…
Glen Everett is now up and running on tank work in Kent – valves, PRV changes, PPTs etc …. see Section 5.
As is well known, Zebedee frequently gets requests for specific equipment, sometimes being unable to help or even point enquirers in the right direction. This month that includes a contact wanting a 13hp fan cage (must be at least 87cm diameter) and another who wants a Thunder ‘Bolt’ envelope (any size, any condition) for ‘old times sake’. If you can help please drop an email to Zebedee.
David Barker reports a new scam to hit a friend in France. He responded to an advert on a French site for a balloon with an ‘owner’ supposedly in Ireland, a Peter Denver from Dublin and shipment was to be made through www.ghesolution.com, a shipping company who guaranteed payment by not releasing the funds to the seller until the goods were delivered. Sounds safe? But it appears that this very sophisticated site is a scam and has only been in operation for a couple of months. The balloon was advertised on leboncoin.com, a very popular French site for selling second hand goods. There were photos which he has now discovered were copied from http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111711548459 for a balloon that was sold some 3 months ago, to Italy. The same advert has now cropped up on a Belgian and later a Swiss site. But the main problem is the ‘shipping co’. They did not create such a site for just one scam…
